We cater for people on tight budget or low income. Our services
are reliable, efficient, affordable and prompt.

- Manage the performance
of your PC by increasing the memory
level, processor speed, and hard drive storage capacity. For
more details go to systems support
services.
- Various types of systems
upgrades:
- Motherboard and Central Processing Unit (CPU).

The motherboard holds the various hardware components of the
computer system- eg the CPU, memory chips, graphic or video
cards (for screen displays), modem (enables your PC to access the
Internet),
sound cards, keyboard, mouse, power supply unit, CD ROM/ DVD
ROM drives, hard drives, floppy drives, printer and scanner
ports etc (all connected to the electronic circuit on the main
board).
Some of the components like memory chips, graphic and sound
cards etc are fixed into the expansion slots on the motherboard.
There are various types of motherboards, depending on the manufacturing
company. For example, the Intel company manufactures its own
motherboards and the corresponding processors- i.e. Pentium
I, II, III and IV CPUs.
There are other companies like AMD, which produce other types
of
motherboard
and CPUs. Each motherboard has to match its CPU, in order for
the system to work properly.
Normally, the higher the processor speed (e.g. CPU speed measured
in Megahertz- MHz) the faster the computer system runs. This
means Pentium III 500MHz processor is faster than Pentium II
500MHz processor etc. Currently, Pentium IV is the highest processor
on the market. By upgraging the processor, you can avoid spending
unnecessary money buying a new PC. Simply upgrade the existing
system.
Upgrade can take place, for example, by replacing Pentium II
with Pentium III motherboard, or Pentium IV replacing Pentium
III motherboard etc- for better processing performance.
- Memory chips
Memory, commonly referred to as RAM (Random Access
Memory),
plays an important role in PC's performance. In addition to the CPU,
it determines the processing speed of the computer system.
The higher the RAM, the faster the PC runs. However, to get
the best out of your memory, it needs to be synchronised with
the CPU.
Upgrading both the CPU and memory will make your old PC super
fast.
- Hard drive
Measures the storage capacity of your computer- in bytes,
Megabytes
or Gigabyte etc. The hard drive, found inside the PC, is where
all your systems-data reside. This includes your operating systems
and applications or
programmes.
If the hard drive in your present (old) PC has a small storage
capacity, you can buy a bigger one and replace the current
one. This means you have upgraded your present PC in terms
of storage capacity.
Of course, this is a technical matter. You need to have the knowledge,
in order to do the upgrade.
- CD/ DVD ROM drive.
Like other hardware devices, the CD/ DVD ROM can be added to
your PC system to enhance its multi-media functionality- e.g.
music, video etc.
- Operating System (O/S)
This is the main software that has to be pre-installed on your
PC, before you to instal and use other programmes/ applications
(like Word Processor, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, even computer
games). Microsoft Windows 98 O/S currently running on your
present PC can be upgraded to Windows Millennium, Windows 2000
Professional or even Windows XP, in order to enhance performance.
Microsoft has now launched the most recent O/S- Windows Vista.
- Applications/ Programmes
The purpose of your PC system is to enable you to use the desired
applications or programmes like Microsoft Word, Excel, Access,
PowerPoint, the Internet, Computer Programming software etc.
You can use newer versions of applications or programmes by
installing them on your PC, as long as your O/S can support
them.
- Recommendation
- If your current PC is not too old, you can do a combination
of the above upgrades to enhance it's performance. You do
not have to change your PC hardware (i.e. buy new ones)
often. However, you need to upgrade the software or programs
regularly.
- On the other hand, if money is not a problem, then upgrade may
not be necessary. You can buy new PCs as many times as possible.
We are
concerned
about home-users, who are on tight budget and cannot afford
to buy brand new computers.
